To offer some background about Mid-Day Squares, the brand describes their treats as "everything a chocolate bar isn't" and "everything a protein bar wishes it was." They're designed to curb mid-day cravings and are 100 percent organic, vegan and gluten-free. But given that I'd never tried a brand of chocolate that ticks all of these boxes (FYI, not counting protein bars here), I felt it was my duty to give these a shot. I mean, a chocolate bar that's loaded with clean protein and fiber, without tons of added sugar? That sounded almost too good to be true. So when I got the opportunity to sample Mid-Day Squares, I just had to try them out. They’re my favorite snack whenever I have a sweet tooth, and I’ve tried countless samples at chocolate events, from A Slice of Brooklyn’s Chocolate Tour to Salon Du Chocolat's annual Chocolate Show. The box includes - Milk Chocolate Club Crunch, Milk Chocolate Regency, Marbled Octagon, Milk Chocolate Viennese Finger, White Chocolate Coronet, Dark Chocolate Halo, Milk Chocolate Ring, Milk Chocolate Fudge Sundae, Milk Chocolate Orange Flavour Sundae, White Chocolate Ring, Dark Chocolate Ring and Milk Chocolate Vanilla Flavour Sundae. If I could get away with eating sweets all the time, then chocolate bars would account for roughly 80 percent of my diet. This particular box from Aldi is filled with a whopping 27 biscuits (three more than M&S!). It's safe to say that special festive treats can be a tad expensive, especially depending on where you shop. There's nothing more festive than a box of Christmas biscuits, and since they've been a staple in my family home all my life, I knew I had to continue the tradition when I get a house of my own. Opening a tub of biscuits can be dangerous for me, purely because I always end up eating most of the box quite easily. Where to buy: M&S stores or online at Ocado Aldi Chocolate Biscuit Selection

I shall certainly be buying again, Christmas or not. I'll admit, I can usually scoff my way through several biscuits with a nice strong brew, but I couldn't even manage more than a couple (ok maybe three) at a time with these, they were so indulgent. It makes each one feel like a proper indulgent treat, and there will be no Peter Kay biscuits falling in your tea moments with these. The thing that impressed me the most was how thick the chocolate coating is on these biscuits. Marks and Spencer Milk, Dark and White Chocolate Biscuits (Image: Liverpool Echo)Īs soon as I opened the plastic wrapping around the biscuits, I was overwhelmed with the rich chocolatey smell and couldn't wait to tuck in. The box is packed with 24 biscuits including Milk Chocolate Fudge Cream (smooth, buttery and delicious), Extremely Chocolatey Dark Chocolate Shortcake Biscuit (slathered in thick chocolate, this was absolute heaven) and my personal favourite, Dark Chocolate Ginger Biscuit (so good I'd buy a whole box of these). At £5, the box isn't the cheapest on the market I'm sure, but I quickly found out you get what you pay for. So inevitably, I had high hopes for the M&S Chocolate Biscuit Selection, which contains milk, dark and white chocolate biscuits. Sometimes I find myself going out my way just to grab another box of mince pies and you don't want to know how many of its Christmas Club sandwiches I've already had this year. Let's face it, M&S is pretty top tier when it comes its Christmas food and drink selection, with its yule logs, gin snow globes and light up everything impressing shoppers far and wide. Let's just say Marks and Spencer and Aldi both impressed us with their offerings. Now, as much as we love a biscuit, we couldn't possible tuck into every single box there is to buy this year, so we've picked two of the most popular places for festive food to see how their biscuit boxes compare. Thankfully, all your favourite supermarkets and budget stores like Home Bargains and B&M do big boxes of biccies to see us through the Christmas season (depending on how quickly you demolish them). Over the festive season having a big box of biscuits in is a must, to keep visitors happy and tuck into with a nice hot cup of tea, or Christmas coffee.Ī packet of bog standard digestives just isn't going to cut it at this time of year, when we're all craving something a bit more special on all those inevitable snack breaks.
